Deconcentration in education: Meeting challenges locally

 

The deconcentration of education can make it possible to respond more effectively to local realities — but not without prior training and capacity building for education actors. One example is Haiti, where there is a growing focus on educational planning at the departmental level, helping to provide local solutions to national education challenges.

 
 
 
 
 

Mongolia's challenge: 100% access to pre-primary education

Higher Education in Finland: The quest to leave no one behind

 

A new report, published by the Finnish Education Evaluation Centre, gives a complete picture of how students can get in, get through, and get out of higher education with greater ease and options. As part of IIEP-UNESCO’s research project SDG4: Planning for Flexible Learning Pathways in Higher Education, the report offers policy recommendations to close equity gaps. 

 
 
 

Instructional leadership: A meeting with three change agents

 

Why is the role of instructional leader under-exploited at the middle-tier of education systems, despite its potential? Three instructional leaders shared their experiences and good practices in Wales, Rwanda and Delhi (India), for an online event organized as part of UNESCO’s World Teachers’ Day 2020 celebrations.

Education in urban settings provides its own set of unique challenges and opportunities.
